Construction work begins in Eemshaven for the planned Arendal ferry route

Construction work is underway in Eemshaven as new land and quay facilities are being developed in preparation for the planned ferry connection to Arendal, Norway. The project marks another visible step forward and suggests that the long-discussed route is moving closer to becoming a reality.

The expansion of the port infrastructure is one of the clearest signs yet that preparations are progressing on the ground. While no official launch date for the service has been announced, developments in Eemshaven indicate that the proposed Netherlands–Norway ferry link is gaining momentum.

€75 million investment planned for Eemshaven-Arendal ferry connection

The proposed ferry route between Eemshaven and Arendal has moved a step closer to reality, with new details emerging about the infrastructure required to support the service.

According to regional reports, around €75 million will be needed to develop a new ferry terminal and harbour facilities in Eemshaven. The plans include the creation of approximately 7.5 hectares of new land, two ferry berths, roll-on/roll-off facilities for vehicles, a passenger terminal, customs facilities and parking areas.
